Volume 4, No. 1Populism, Authoritarianism, and the Rule of Law

Published July 30, 2026

Issue description

Populism and authoritarianism undermine the rule of law when they concentrate power, erode institutional checks and balances, and subordinate the rule of law to political interests. Their spread poses serious challenges to democracy, judicial independence, the separation of powers, and the effective protection of fundamental rights.
